NGT stays ban on diesel vehicles older than 10 years, seeks solutions

The ban that was imposed to prevent all diesel vehicles older than 10 years from plying on the roads of the national capital has been put on hold for the time being. On Monday, the National Green Tribunal (NGT), instead, asked the Delhi government to find out ways to keep these vehicles off the roads.

National Green Tribunal (NGT)’s principal bench has ordered Delhi Tourism and Transportation Development Corporation (DTTDC) to prepare an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) for the proposed “Signature Bridge” over Yamuna river. The environmentalist, who had approached the tribunal despite bridges being exempt from the EIA notification of the Union Ministry of Environment and Forests (MoEF), welcomed the order.
