The Gujarat Pollution Control Board (GPCB) has managed to speed up its work in spite of not having recruited additional staff in the past two years. It has been using a software to make its functioning “transparent and accountable”, and to speedily complete daily tasks. The software called Xtended Green Node (XGN) has been developed by the National Informatics Centre (NIC) and has been in use since June 2008.
