Inside out: Juarez is not just about violence (Source: MONIKA)A group of 16 photographers displayed about 1,000 mugshots of residents of Ciudad Juarez, Mexico’s murder capital, to improve the border city’s image. The photographs are placed on the walls that run along Rio Grande river, separating Mexico from USA, to show the world the “beautiful and happy” faces of Juarez’s residents, project coordinator Monica Lozano said.

Outside Mexico there is only negative news about Juarez, he told Univision News. The exhibition is part of the Inside Out Project, an international art movement initiated by French street artist who is better known as JR. The art movement aims to share the untold stories and images of people around the world. The photographs will later be exhibited in El Paso, the US city across the border.
