BIG cities are suffocating under their own weight. Growing population and shrinking spaces, expanding transport fleet and worsening pollution, less greenery and more concrete.

The blog thisbigcity.net aims to provide solutions to this dilemma. It does not preach. It rather provides a platform where writers and organisations post write-ups highlighting problems of urbanism, besides solutions through innovations in urban design, architecture, culture and transport.

A blog post says Delhi is displacing people to make space for cars. Another highlights Vietnam’s plan to restrict car and motorbike ownership to ease traffic jam in the populous Ho Chi Minh. While one group posts its analysis showing there will be more flying in the future despite climate change, a green group posts how Paris is using the warmth of its sewers to heat buildings.
