In the face of extinction A camera trap set in Iran's Dar-e Anjir Wildlife Refuge recently captured images of rare Asiatic Cheetahs. In two separate photographs, four adult cheetahs and a female cheetah and her four six-month-old cubs are found resting in a shade. Though protected in Iran, cheetahs face a huge extinction threat. The Asiatic Cheetah, which once thrived from the Arabian Pensinsula to India, disappeared from much of West Asia 100 years ago and from India in 1947. Fewer than 60 adult existing cheetahs are found mostly in Iran's arid central plateau.
