hunting appeal rejected: Pro-country sports organisation Countryside Alliance (CA) lost its case against British government's ban on hunting. The court ruled against CA's claim that the Hunting Act -- which bans hunting with dogs -- was invalid. CA argued that the Act, approved by the House of Commons, under provision of the 1949 Parliament Act, was itself invalid, proving the former null and void. The court declared the Parliament Act as legal. CA's appeal was rejected by the High Court and also the Appeal Court. CAalso argued that the act breached the human rights of the hunting fraternity. The High Court had rejected this claim, too.
pueblo sewage spills: Pueblo district attorney filed a federal lawsuit against Colorado Springs Utilities, for 21 sewage spills. It sent more than 1,135,624 litres of wastewater, pollutants and faeces down Fountain Creek, the Arkansas River and its tributaries. The lawsuit imposed a civil penalty of up to us $32,500 per day, for each violation of the Clean Water Act. However, the utility spokesperson said the lawsuit was unnecessary as they were complying with state sanctions evaluating 131 creek crossings, ditches and gullies.
