Equally good

A study sponsored by the biotech giant Monsanto and Zeneca's Ag products Inc., conducted over a 10 year period, has shown that genetically modified crops do not survive for longer periods than their conventional partners. The study had a narrow focus -- it only aimed to study whether the genetically engineered plants would have such a survival advantage that they would take over the habitats of conventional plants. The industry-sponsored study has been released at a point of time when there is enough debate being generated in the world on the impact, both on the environment and human health, of these genetically modified crops.
