the European parliament has made amendments in a draft law making electronic equipment manufacturers responsible for recycling their products. The law will cover all electronic goods used in the European countries. It will encourage production of ecofriendly products that can be easily reused or recycled. "Manufacturers and consumers are going to ensure that discarded products no longer pollute the planet," said Chris Davies, a British liberal democrat. As per the law, the amount of waste to be collected by the companies will be six kilogrammes per person every year. Manufacturers will pay for collecting the waste equipment from households, as well as for recycling or disposing them. They can charge consumers a fee, separate from the price of the product to pay for the recycling. After 10 years, the separate fee system would be abolished and the recycling costs would be included in the product prices.
