the price of a sumptuous meal is all that it cost. The US citizens can now encourage use of renewable energy by buying 'green tickets' costing US $5.95 per month from a company. Sterling Planet, the Atlanta-based company, purchases the tickets on behalf of the consumers from the Automated Power Exchange (APX) of California. APX uses the money collected through these tickets as a financial incentive for the suppliers of renewable energy. It gives the price of every ticket to these suppliers for each megawatt hour of power generated. "The current sources of renewable energy included in the green ticket is about 70 per cent hydropower from installations of less than 30 megawatts and 30 per cent geothermal," said Bette Trevillion, Sterling Planet's spokesperson."In future, this will change to include other green energy sources, such as solar, wind and biomass," Trevillion added. "Doing something for the environment is now quick, convenient, easily affordable and widely available," says Ron Mitchell, one of the company's vice president. The company is recognised by the US department of energy as a green certificate marketer.
