Bhutan has been declared as 'rinderpest disease free' by the Office International Des Epizooties, a division of the World Animal Heath Organisation. Bhutan is the first country in the South Asian region to achieve this recognition. Rinderpest (cattle plague) is one of the severest infectious viral diseases affecting all cloven hoof animals.
