in a one-of-a-kind workshop, the Canadian government is teaching citizens ways to reduce greenhouse gas ( ghg ) emissions. Participants at the workshop were taught how to reduce emissions and were encouraged to give written commitments to reduce their emissions and to measure their progress. Geoff Love, president of Enviros- ris Canada, the company that designed the workshop, told reporters that the company is aiming to have 25-30 participants in each workshop.
Love estimates that between 1,500 and 2,000 employees will participate in the workshops during the first pilot year, but he says it is difficult to estimate the total reduction that might occur over the next few years. Till date, nine companies have signed on for the programme. They have committed to organise 10-20 workshops in a year and to participate in some form of community outreach activity to spread the message. Enviros- ris Canada is investigating the development of a computer based version of the workshop to expand its possible reach.
