That eating Jamun ( Syzygium cumini ) is good for diabetics is well known. Now, a study by the Institute of Home Economics, University of Delhi, has confirmed this -- regularly consuming seeds of Jamun in a powdered form can reduce blood sugar levels, according to a report published in The Statesman , New Delhi. In the study, 20 diabetics were given a dose of 10 grammes of the seed powder for a period of 10 weeks. At the end of the 10-week period, blood sugar levels among the diabetics had gone down by 8-10 per cent. Diabetes is one of the fastest growing disease in the world. According to the World Health Organisation, diabetes cases worldwide could more than double by the 2025 to reach 300 million.
