According to the us Department of Defence, at least 40 tonnes of depleted uranium was left on the battlefield of Iraq. The explosions have affected plant life too. Depleted uranium has a long radioactive life and as a result, the food chain has been affected.

An Iraqi doctor was quoted by the newspaper: "They say it is all Iraqi propaganda. But wait and see, it is not just the Iraqi's who will find out the truth very soon."
