The Japanese consumer appliance and electronics firm, Sanyo, said recently that a Canadian company -- AGRA Earth & Environmental Ltd, a unit of Canadian engineering firm AGRA Inc -- will be involved in its environmental impact assessment and toxic waste clean-up programmes. A spokesperson for the Osaka-based Sanyo said the two companies will cooperate in assessing whether soil and water pollution had occurred around factories. Sanyo will perform the initial assessment and the Canadian company will devise programmes for cleaning up toxic substances, the spokesman pointed out.
