an eight - year - old British boy spoke his first words after swimming with dolphins, reported British newspapers. Nikki Brice, starved of oxygen at birth, had been left unable to speak although he had the physical ability. But after a few days at the Human Dolphin Therapy Centre in Maimi, Florida, where children swim with the mammals, Nikki Brice spoke his first stumbling words.
At the end of the dolphin swimming session, when he was asked to get out of the water, the boy turned to his mother and said "in" -- indicating he wanted to go back to the pool. Since that breakthrough with his first word, the boy has learned to say words like "please" and "duck". His family members, friends and pop stars have raised money to pay for his three-week treatment at the therapy centre.
But even today, scientists are unable to decide about why dolphins have a therapeutic effect on people suffering from depression or with learning difficulties.
