Jun 30, 1998 | From the print edition

South Asia, the world's most populous region, may be the worst HIV/AIDS hit area by the next millennium. If concerted efforts are not taken in time, AIDS will soon be killing more people annually than an atom bomb. Nepal prime minister Girija Prasad Koirala highlighted the threat of AIDS and toll caused due to poor reproductive health.
