THE Rajasthan State Pollution Control Board plans to measure the impact of industrial production on the environment in all industrial areas in the state. This will be a "model measurement" for each of them and will do away with the need for individual evaluation of various units. The drive will be launched in the Sanganer industrial area near Jaipur, according to the board's chairperson and the state environment secretary, K L Meena.
This will be followed by steps for reducing industrial wastes to the bare minimum. The assessment of environmental impact of industrial units provides useful information about the extent of damage to air and water.
