An award-winning vehicle designed
at London's South Bank University
by engineering graduate Paul
Chapp may provide an alternative
to conventional mopeds and motor-
cycles. The scooter's 12-volt battery
receives a charge from the solar
papel above the rear wheel, producing enough electricity on a
bright day to give it a travelling
range of over 10 km at 30 kin pet
hour. An electricity mains socket
allows a top-up charge on a cloudy
day or when parked in a garage. A
display panel indicates battery
reserves and the charging rate of the
solar cells.

Good job bringing this to light. People won't realise how huge the problem is and municipalities are woefully ill equipped to...
Agreed; mining can never be sustainable, but then how do you get the metals to make all the things you need in the course of...
Very good piece.
