THE ministry of non-conventional energy
sources (MNES) is considering a Rs 1.09
crore 'photo voltaic' project in villages
under Vaishali and Patna districts of
Bihar. In the first phase of the move,
the MNES is setting up a regional office
in Patna. The activities of the regional
office would include the setting up of
an 'energy park' at Muzaffarpur under
the energy park scheme, identifying
non-conventional energy sources in the
tribal areas of Chhota Nagpur, generating power from gasifiers using biomass at the Muzaffarpur Institute of Technology, installing solar lighting systems in hospitals in district headquarters and generating energy from agricultural wastes and solid wastes.
