Cashless transaction: An insurance company provides a booklet of recognized hospitals for cashless service along with the policy. When the patient reaches the hospital, the insurance desk sends his details to the third party administrator (TPA) for authorization. The patient is treated and discharged. The hospital sends the bills to the TPA, who verifies and then pays the hospital. The TPA sends the claim to the insurance company, which reimburses it.
Reimbursement of bills: A patient can go to any hospital as long as the hospital is not in the exclusion list of the insurance company. After being discharged, a patient sends bills to the TPA, who verifies and sends claim to the insurance company. The insurance company reimburses the patient directly.
