Researchers at the National Institute of
Traditional Medicine, Bhutan, have discovered a plant
substitute for musk, originally obtained
from the musk deer. Known as Delphinium
brunonianumor, traditionally, Bya-rgodspos, the plant is an erect hairy species
groWing upto a height of 20 cm. Its chemical contents match that of musk, an ingredient iR homeopathic medicines. While
the quantity of musk procured from each musk deer
varies from eight to 60 gm, the amount extracted from the
plant substitute contained appreciable quantities.
