A majority of the earth's ecosystems today are in a state of 'accelerated death', one that can be traced to activities structurally linked with most human societies. The study of those human societies which have been able to integrate themselves with their environments can help formulate concepts of sustainable development. The description of a humanised ecosystem |of this type -- Sariska in Rajasthan, in this case -- was the object of the author's research. His findings led him to classify these as "societies synergetically integrated with a total biodiversity environment"
