TATTOO TODAY

Jul 15, 1995 | From the print edition

For people who have always been fascinated by tattoos but have never braved them, a combination of 2 quick and painless methods of tattooing has been devised by the UK-based Dreadco. The spray immuniser method fires a shot of vaccine at the skin, making the dye penetrate the skin surface. The ink-jet printer method forms a computer-controlled picture on paper with the help of little drops of ink. Combining these 2 methods, the desired image is generated on the screen of the computer. A print head mounted on an articulated arm scans the customer's anatomy, finally shooting drops of ink under the skin to produce the image.
