-- KOREAN condoms, preferred by the World Health Organisation over the Indian Nirodh, have turned out to be too big to be of any use in the country. The Korean condoms, larger by 3 cm and wider by 1 cm than Nirodh, were distributed free in red light areas, making a mockery of the AIDS-combating programme. I S Gilada, president of the Indian Health Organisation, a NGO committed to creating AIDS awareness in India, says, "The Korean condoms are simply being dumped here despite being totally 'ineffective'."
Gilada accuses, "Condom dumping is a part of a WHO strategy to promote Korean brands." He fears that the users of the Korean condoms might become victims of the dreaded disease despite the precaution.
