In Antarctica's Ross Sea, a fishing boat has caught what is probably the world's biggest known colossal squid. Heavier than even giant
squids, this colossal squid (Mesonychoteuthis hamiltoni) weighed in at 450 kg. It got entangled while feeding on Patagonian
toothfish. The deep-sea species was first discovered in 1925, though the only evidence found then was two tentacles in a sperm
whale's stomach. The new specimen is likely to be the first intact male ever recovered.
