Modernising classrooms Africa
Uganda will open the first demo projects of the New Partnership for Africa's Development programme by July end . The initiative uses information technology to test and refine a regional strategy for modernising classrooms in Algeria, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Egypt, Gabon, Ghana, Kenya, Lesotho, Mali, Mauritius, Mozambique, Nigeria, Rwanda, Senegal, South Africa, and Uganda. Each of these countries will open six e-schools each. "The schools will train teachers to incorporate technology in their lessons, give students access to the internet and imbue them with skills to participate in the knowledge economy," South Africa's Business Daily reports. South African Communications Minister Ivy Matsepe-Casaburri said this was the largest multi-country technology education project attempted anywhere in the world.
