The Supreme Court has asked the government to submit the probe report and action taken report (ATR) relating to the recent death of 12 tigers at the Nandankanan Zoo in Orissa. The ATR should be supported by additional inspector-general (wildlife) S C Sharma's affidavit. The direction came in response to a public interest litigation, seeking protection of tigers from poaching. The bench headed by chief justice Adarsh Sein Anand expressed deep concern over the matter and said it will take a wider view regarding the threat of extinction being faced by tigers.
