If not now, then never
Recently, scientists have called upon the global community to spend the next few decades working towards formal protections of at least half of the world's oceans and lands to prevent several species from facing threat of extinction. According to them, if the world is not able to protect 30 per cent of the oceans and land by 2030, with a focus on areas of high biodiversity and/or productivity,
it could lead to a major extinction crisis.
