a bizarre phenomenon has been reported from the Chawlibasa village in East Singhbhum district of Bihar. A portion of a house belonging to Shyamal Ghosh has become unusually hot and has caused panic among the residents of the area. The floor remains hot even during the night. Ghosh has reported the matter to the district administration.
According to R L Kaskari, a senior official at the Geological Survey of India ( gsi ), "A geological phenomenon known as earth current may have contributed to the rise in temperature or a particular rock formation beneath the Earth may have led to this unusual warming. The other reason may be water logging beneath the surface." Investigations are on to find out the reason. However, local people speculate that there might be a volcano beneath the surface. However, Kaskari rules out this possibility. Meanwhile, officials have advised family members to stay away from the house till further investigations. Some speculate that there might be a coal mine beneath the house.
