At least 383 cosmetic products in us markets contain chemicals that are banned in other countries, says a recent report released by the Environmental Working Group (ewg), a us-based ngo.
The organization released its analysis of 23,000 cosmetic products on September 30, when international industry and regulatory representatives debated cooperation on cosmetics regulations at a meeting in Brussels. ewg claimed that the us Food and Drug Administration (fda) refused to allow consumer organisations to participate in the meeting.
In a protest letter to fda published on the Internet, the environmental group claimed that 447 products in the us market were unsafe.
