Website>> Politics ÔÇó Kenya
A website linking corruption and other scandals to high-ranking Kenyan politicians, created by a team of political provocateurs, has become one of the most visited web pages in the country.
mavulture.com, which in Swahili means many vultures, airs the past wrongdoings of the political class. The site, which went live on November 13, is the latest project of activist Boniface Mwangi, known for his photo exhibitions documenting violent aftermath of the 2007 presidential elections.
“Yo have y’all checked out mavulture.com?” tweeted Kenyan entertainment magazine Blink. “Y’ need to check it out before you cast your vote next year.” Kenya will go to the polls to elect a new president in March 2013. “I now know why/ whom I shouldn’t vote for,” tweeted Msanifu, a user.
The website so far features profiles of 17 politicians, including presidential candidate Uhuru Kenyatta, who is the son of Kenya’s first president and one of the men under an International Criminal Court probe for crimes against humanity during the 2007 post-election violence.
