The Supreme Court has fixed December three for the final disposal of interlocutory application regarding the construction of 27 crest gates on Almatti Dam by the Karnataka government. The three- judge bench directed not to erect the gates till further orders. Earlier, the court had ordered the state government not to commence work till the end of January 1999. It changed the order on the submission of Karnataka council, who contended that if the work is delayed, it will not be possible to erect the gates before the onset of the next monsoons.
