Rural Development Tamil Nadu

The Gandhigram Rural Institute, Madurai, Tamil Nadu has embarked upon an ambitious project to apply geoinformatics to devise appropriate strategies for rural development in the state. As a first step, the deemed university identified 15 villages, situated close to the institute, in Dindigul district. Geoinformatics would be used to evolve plans to manage natural resources in these villages. The institute plans to use software provided by the transnational Intergraph, usa to cull data for micro-level planning with an eye on environmental pollution.
