Frequent floods has left the Bangladeshis in a state of utter despair. Pitching in to help is the World Bank which recently announced the approval of a US $121.9 million credit. The credit will be used mainly to protect the river banks from erosion and also to build institutions devoted to improved water planning. The credit will meet 78 per cent of the total project cost of US $156 million with the rest being met by the Government of Bangladesh.
