Be gone spray

How many months would that anti-bug spray can last? There is another way of getting rid of insects, without using even a drop of insecticide. All one needs is a dead bug. When an insect like the cockroach finds a new shelf, it releases chemicals to signal its mates. Some entomologists intercepted the transmission by spreading juices from a dead cockroach’s body in that place. The stench it emanated made the cockroaches abandon all ideas of colonization and flee. This is why insects seal off their dead. They cannot bear the stench from certain fatty acids released by the remains. Good news is the human nose cannot smell it (Evolutionary Biology, September).
