South Asia, the world's most populous region, may be the worst HIV/AIDS hit area by the next millennium. If concerted efforts are not taken in time, AIDS will soon be killing more people annually than an atom bomb. These views were expressed at a meeting of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) parliamentarians in Kathmandu recently. Pandemic AIDS and poor reproductive health are the major health problems in these countries. Nepal prime minister Girija Prasad Koirala highlighted the threat of AIDS and toll caused due to poor reproductive health.
