German automaker BMW has announced the launching of its prototype Hydrogen 7, the world's first luxury car powered by liquid hydrogen. The vehicles will be manufactured in a European country. A limited number will be in the market in 2007. Equipped with a combustion engine capable of running either on hydrogen or on petrol, BMW Hydrogen 7 has all the comforts of a regular BMW vehicle. Retailed at euro 100,000 (US $131,990), the company plans to lease its first 100 Hydrogen 7s to celebrities.
