M O P Vaishnav college Tamil Nadu

It's quite a unique endeavour. Students of the M O P Vaishanv college, Nungambakkam, Tamil Nadu have launched a community radio station. Meant specifically for students, the station, mop fm, is set at 91.2 Mhz frequency and broadcasts programmes on health, environment and education everyday between 6.30 am and 7.30 am with repeat broadcasts between 6 pm and 7 pm. T he programmes are in three langauages -- English, Tamil and Hindi and are in the form of interviews, docu-drama and skits. The radio station has a 50 watt fm transmitter and covers a radius of 7.5 to 15 km.

The radio station has a full-fledged studio built at a cost of Rs 50 lakh.
