More than 39,000 industrial units in Delhi got a breather recently when the Supreme Court agreed to stay the shifting of these units until the Delhi government draws up an action plan for their relocation. In an earlier order, the court had ordered the closure of these industries -- located in non-conforming areas -- if they failed to move out of these areas before the end of the year. The court was requested by the Delhi government to grant time for relocation of these industries. The government has also sought permission to develop 1,620 ha of industrial land in the city.
