a group of Swedish scientists have developed a technique which will aid in converting sunlight into electricity with an efficiency of 16.6 per cent. With the help of solar cell modules, the research team at Uppsala University converted sunlight into electricity at that efficiency. According to Marika Bodegard, one of the researchers, the solar cells are made from copper, indium, gallium and selenium.
The researchers claim that due to the solar cell modules solar power would make a good competitor of fossil fuels in 10 years. "We have used a system of four interconnected cells and that is significant enough. So far our results have been the best in the world. In fact, we have broken the earlier record of 14.9 per cent, also achieved by us," said Bodegard.
