Coronavirus update: 157 new cases in the country; Drills at hospitals to check preparedness

India now has 3,421 active cases; Cumulative vaccinations cross 2,200 million

Many hospitals across the country held drills on December 27, 2022 to check preparedness of health facilities to deal with any spurt in COVID-19 cases, reported news agency Press Trust of India

  • The global tally for cases positive to the novel coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 was at 662,411,909 December 27, 2022 at 4.30pm, according to private aggregator Worldometers.info.
  • The ensuing disease (COVD-19) has killed 6,687,668 people around the world. 
  • The number of active cases was 20,752,300; 0.2 per cent of them remained ‘serious’ or ‘critical’.
  • India logged 157 new COVID-19 cases December 27, according to the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

  • The country now has 3,421 active cases or 0.1 per cent positivity rate.
  • The total infection tally in the country stands at 44,677,459.
  • A total of 530,696 deaths due to COVID-19 have been reported in India. 
  • A total of 97,622 people received vaccination shots for COVID-19.
  • The cumulative vaccination numbers now stand at 2,200,643,689.
