Coronavirus update: Tedros stresses green, healthy recovery from COVID-19

World Health Organization Director-general Tedros A Ghebreyesus May 27, 2020 stressed on eco-friendly ways to recover from the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic, presenting a six-point manifesto:

  1. Protecting nature
  2. Water and sanitation, clean and reliable energy and climate resilience for homes and health facilities
  3. Clean energy
  4. Healthy and sustainable food systems
  5. Better urban planning
  6. Withdrawal of subsidies for fossil fuel

India’s total number of cases positive to the SARS-CoV-2 virus jumped by 6,566 in a day to 158,333 May 28 morning, according to the Union health ministry.

  • The country’s death toll surged to 4,531 from 4,337.
  • There were 86,110 active cases, up from 83,004 a day ago.
