Coronavirus update: World tally crosses 5.5 mln

India active case count over 77,000

The global tally for cases positive to the novel coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 was at 5,500,577 late morning May 25, 2020, according to private aggregator Worldometers.info.

  • The ensuing disease (COVD—19) has killed 346,719 people aroudn the world.
  • The number of active cases was 2,302,057; 2 per cent of them remained ‘serious’ / ‘critical’.

  • Among them, 77,103 were in India, accordinfg to the Union health ministry.
  • The country has lost 4,021 lives amid an increase in fatality.
  • India’s tally of total infections was 138,845.
