For 2008, the Carbon Disclosure Project has requested over 3,000 of the world's largest corporations to measure and disclose their greenhouse gas emissions and report their strategies for dealing with climate change.
The London-based Carbon Disclo-sure Project is a collaboration of 385 institutional investors with a combined us $57 trillion of assets.
It aims to prepare a rational response to climate change and hence seeks information on business risks and opportunities by climate change from the world's leading companies.
Beginning in 2002, there have been five such requests to global companies. For this year, which represents the sixth in the series, questionnaires have been sent to 500 companies in the us, 350 in the uk, 200 each in Australia, Canada, Germany and India, and 100 in China among others.
About 250 global electric utilities and more than 100 international companies have also been asked to respond voluntarily by May.
Details will be put up on the project's website www.cdproject.net in September this year.
