Steps to contain air and water pollution
Justices Arun Mishra and Deepak Gupta of the Supreme Court (SC) on January 13, 2020 passed a series of directions to contain air and water pollution plaguing Delhi and the National Capital Region.
RO technology
The National Green Tribunal (NGT) on January 10 granted the Union Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change two months time to finalise the policy on use of Reverse Osmosis (RO) technology in India.
Maradu flats demolition
The SC on January 13 directed government agencies to file reports on the management of debris from four demolished apartment complexes in Maradu, Kochi. The flats were demolished on the orders of the apex court for violating coastal regulation norms.
Air pollution due to cement loading/unloading
The NGT on January 10 directed that the recommendations made by the committee on curtailing air pollution near Shakurbasti Railway Station in Delhi due to loading/unloading of cement should be acted upon and an appropriate action plan prepared.
