Housing project in North Campus

The Supreme Court (SC) on January 28, 2020 set aside the National Green Tribunal (NGT) order of January 8, 2020, that ordered status quo on construction of a housing complex adjacent to North Campus of Delhi University. 

Stone quarries in Chittoor

The NGT on January 27 directed the Andhra Pradesh Pollution Control Board to levy compensation on polluting stone quarries, located near CMC Chittoor Campus for the entire period of violation upto five years. 

Polluting units fined

The NGT on January 28 directed that the chemical units in Kanpur fined by the Uttar Pradesh Pollution Control Board (UPPCB) for dumping their hazardous waste should furnish their response to the Uttar Pradesh Pollution Control Board. 

Illegal sand crushing 

The NGT on January 28 directed the Himachal Pradesh State Pollution Control Board to assess and recover compensation for the damage to the environment due to illegal mining and sand crushing by Himachal Pradesh Public Works Department and Central Public Works Department contractors who were using mobile stone crushers for the purpose.
