Noise pollution in Delhi

The National Green Tribunal (NGT) on November 20 directed the Delhi Pollution Control Committee to set up requisite noise monitoring stations in Delhi within sixty days and enforcement of stringent compensation for tampering of sound limiters.

The order came in the wake of allegations of failure against the Delhi government in controlling noise pollution according to the statutory mandate of Noise Pollution (Regulation and Control) Rules, 2000.

Air pollution control

The National Green Tribunal (NGT) on November 20 directed that the required number of ambient air quality monitoring stations (AAQMS) be installed within one year and quarterly progress reports furnished to Central Pollution Control Board by all the state pollution control boards and pollution control committees.
