Dhari Devi: lost and found

Dhari Devi's idol, which had gone missing on June 17, has been brought back and placed in the new temple above the original site

The Dhari Devi idol which had gone missing on June 17 has now been brought back. The deity is now housed on the elevated temple built at the rock site from where the idol was removed by officials of the Alaknanda Hydropower Co Limited. The temple has been shifted to the elevated structure to allow for the expansion of Shrinagar Hydel project. A large column of the new temple had given way on June 17 during the extreme rains and flood

Rains and floods have submerged the original site of the temple on a rock outcrop on which the elevated temple structure has been built
