safe disposal of the medical waste generated by hospitals, nursing homes and diagnostic centres is very much high on the agenda of Delhi government. A meeting was held under the aegis of A K Walia, Delhi's environment and health minister to deal with problems caused due to improper disposal of medical waste.
Despite the Union ministry of environment and forests setting up strict guidelines, various hospitals, nursing homes and diagnostic centres are not disposing their medical waste safely. This is causing irreversible and irreparable damages to environment and human health.
Therefore, the Delhi government has decided to take stringent action against all those who do not obtain an authorisation certificate from the Delhi Pollution Control Committee ( dpcc ). The government will serve show cause notices to all those who fail to obtain the certificate.
