In a major judgement, the Delhi High Court has directed the Union government to dissolve a high-powered wildlife committee set up a year ago .
Counsel for the petitioner had moved an application that as three of the seven members of the committee had passed away, it should be reconstituted. However, the additional solicitor general contended that this would not be required as the six-month period of the committee had expired. Seven of the recommendations made by the committee had already been complied with, four were being pursued and the respective state governments had been instructed to implement the rest.
